The best Printify alternatives for most small US sellers are Dreamship, for the best published margin on a basic tee, and Gelato, if many of your customers live outside the US. Printful costs more per shirt, and it's no longer truly a competitor, since it merged with Printify in 2024. On a $25 Bella+Canvas 3001 tee with free shipping, published prices as of November 2026 put your profit before ads between about $7 and $10.50, so the choice matters more than it looks.

Most comparison pages ranking for this search are written by print on demand companies or sites with a commercial interest in the outcome. Sellbino hasn't tested these services or their print quality. Everything below comes from published plans and prices, so you can check each number yourself.

Why people look for Printify alternatives

Sellers usually start looking for one of three reasons:

  • Inconsistent results. Printify doesn't print anything itself. It connects you to third-party print providers, so quality and speed depend on which provider you choose.
  • Thin margins. A free-plan tee that costs nearly $16 delivered leaves little room for ads.
  • A monthly fee to get the good prices. Printify's best pricing sits behind Premium, which is a real cost when you sell only a few shirts a month.

The first thing to know is that switching to Printful may not get you as far away as you think. The two companies announced a merger in November 2024 and said both brands would keep running separately. Printful and Printify still have different production models, catalogs and prices, but if you're leaving because you want a different company behind your store, look elsewhere.

The Printify plans you're comparing against

As of November 2026, Printify's pricing page lists:

  • Free: $0, with 5 stores per account
  • Premium: from $39 a month, or from $24.99 a month billed yearly, with 10 stores and up to 20% off all products
  • Enterprise: custom pricing

For the Bella+Canvas 3001, Printify's shirt page lists $10.98, or $8.77 with Premium. Shipping is set by each print provider. One example is Monster Digital, which lists $4.95 for the first tee on its Standard US option and $4.49 on Economy.

A $25 tee worked out for each option

This table uses one Bella+Canvas 3001 with a single front print, sold for $25 with free shipping to a US customer. I've used the same blank everywhere so the comparison is fair. Prices are as of November 2026, and the card fee is an example based on the 2.9% + 30¢ online rate in Shopify's guide to card fees, which comes to $1.03 on $25 after rounding.

OptionTeeUS shippingCard feeProfit before adsMargin
Printify Free$10.98$4.95$1.03$8.0432.2%
Printify Premium$8.77$4.95$1.03$10.2541.0%

Dreamship Basic$9.99$5.19$1.03$8.7935.2%
Dreamship Plus$8.29$5.19$1.03$10.4942.0%
Gelato Free (converted)$10.07$4.70$1.03$9.2036.8%
Gooten (volume floor)$8.65$4.95$1.03$10.3741.5%

The subscription fees for Printify Premium and Dreamship Plus aren't included yet. We'll get to those.

Three of these rows need a warning:

The Printful figure is the $11.92 listed for the 3001, and its US shipping rate for a first t-shirt is $4.95. Dreamship's product page gives $9.99, $8.29 and $5.19 US Economy for size S.

Some details will move these numbers:

  • Holiday surcharge. Printify and Printful both list a $0.40 surcharge on US orders from October 15, 2026 to January 17, 2027, so take 40¢ off those rows for now. I didn't find the same notice for the others, which doesn't prove they don't have one.
  • Larger sizes and back prints. Both usually cost more, and Printify says extra print areas are calculated separately.
  • Provider choice on Printify. $10.98 is the headline price, and your provider may charge more. Another Printify listing shows the same tee from $11.29.

If you sell on Etsy rather than your own store, the fees are much heavier. Etsy charges a $0.20 listing fee and a 6.5% transaction fee, plus payment processing that it lists as 3% + $0.25 in the US. On a $25 sale that's $2.83 in total, about $1.80 more than the Shopify example, so Dreamship Basic drops to $6.99 profit. Our Etsy vs Shopify guide covers that trade-off in full.

When a monthly plan pays for itself

Paid plans only help above a certain volume, and you can work out exactly where that is.

PlanSaving per teeFeeTees a month to break even
Printify Premium, paid monthly$2.21$39.0018
Printify Premium, paid yearly$2.21$24.9912
Dreamship Plus, paid yearly$1.70$19.9912

Here's what that looks like at 40 tees a month, an example volume, after subscription fees:

OptionProfit from 40 teesPlan feeMonthly profit before ads
Printful Free$284.00$0$284.00
Printify Free$321.60$0$321.60
Dreamship Basic$351.60$0$351.60
Gelato Free (converted)$368.00$0$368.00
Printify Premium, paid monthly$410.00$39.00$371.00
Printify Premium, paid yearly$410.00$24.99$385.01
Dreamship Plus, paid yearly$419.60$19.99$399.61

Yearly billing means paying up front. Dreamship's pricing page lists Plus at $239.88 a year, and Printify's yearly option works out to $299.88. Don't commit to either until you have a design that has sold for a couple of months.

Printful's Growth plan is $24.99 a month and becomes free once you reach $12,000 a year in sales. At $25 a tee, that's 480 tees a year, or 40 a month. So if you're already at that level, Printful's cost gap may narrow a lot, but you'd want to see the real Growth price for your products in your account first.

The options, and what each one is for

Printful

Printful says it handles production in-house, while Printify relies on third-party suppliers. That's the company's own claim, but it's the main reason to pay more: you're choosing a single production operator rather than picking through a network. Compared with Printify Free, you give up $0.94 on each tee in the example above.

Dreamship

Dreamship has the best verified result on a free plan and on a paid plan. Basic allows 2 store connections and 5 staff accounts, while Plus allows 12 stores and 20 staff accounts, and gives up to 30% off basic pricing. Dreamship's own pages are the only source for these figures, so order a sample before moving your catalog.

Gelato

Gelato's strength is geography. Its product page lists production in 13 countries, including the US, Canada, the UK, Germany and Australia, and the help center confirms there's no monthly fee on the basic account. If your buyers are spread across several countries, this matters more than a few cents per shirt. Gelato+ was listed at $29.99 a month, or $19.99 a month billed yearly, with up to 33% off products, but I couldn't confirm the Gelato+ price for this tee.

Gooten

Gooten looks aimed at sellers with established volume. Its page says the 3001 has an average production time of 1.5 days, and the $8.65 figure is attractive. Without a public standard price, though, a new seller can't calculate a margin from its website. Ask for your own price in writing before you switch.

Which one should you pick?

  • Testing your first designs with no budget: Dreamship Basic. You keep $0.75 more per tee than on Printify Free, and nothing is due each month.
  • Selling 12 or more tees a month, steadily: Dreamship Plus, or Printify Premium if you already have a good provider and don't want the hassle of moving.
  • Building a brand where consistency matters most: Printful, if your sample orders justify the lower margin.
  • Selling to several countries: Gelato, since local production can matter more than the US tee price.
  • Doing serious volume already: Ask Gooten and Printful for your real pricing, then compare.

My overall pick is Dreamship, for one simple reason: a print on demand business lives on a small gap between cost and price, and it has the strongest published numbers without Gelato's currency uncertainty.

One exception: if you're happy with your Printify provider and selling more than 12 tees a month, just buy Premium. It's simpler than a migration, and your current products stay as they are.

How to choose between the best print on demand sites

No list of the best print on demand sites can tell you how a shirt will look on your customer. Before you move anything, do these four things:

  1. Open your actual best seller in each service and record the real price, including your sizes and print areas.
  2. Order one sample from your top two choices, using the same design and blank.
  3. Wash each sample a few times and compare the print.
  4. Compare the delivery estimates for your main customer locations.

Then recheck your numbers with our guide on how to calculate profit margin. Remember that the profit figures above are before ads, returns and reprints. If you pay $9 in ads for each sale, an $8.79 profit is a loss.

Your next step

Take your best-selling design and rebuild this table using your own costs. If no option leaves room for your ad spend, the fix may be the product rather than the supplier.
